I agree if COD on average is selling 15 million on PlayStation(that’s 900 million) that’s too much money to pass up. Diablo 4 sells 10 million at $60 meaning 600 million. Ms could make billions by being on PlayStation and they are talking about supporting Nintendo
So yes being exclusive could help them sell few million in hardware but that hardware profit is no where near software
PlayStation makes the most money on yearly basis in gaming so that’s a big piece of the pie to pass up on. Just like Sony realizes destiny 3 and their next IP are too valuable so they can make a lot of money being on Xbox
I still believe Ms will release Bethesda games on PlayStation but they will be timed exclusive at launch and maybe a year later release them on PlayStation. This way they get all the benefits of exclusives (sell hardware and gain subscribers and get people in Xbox ecosystem) and by releasing a year later on PlayStation at full price they could generate hundreds of million in profits
If Sony were to buy Capcom or square I think they will release those games on xbox. I don’t think Sony and Ms are making acquisitions to make things exclusive, I think their goal is to have more studios, more IP’s and more releases through the years
MLB the show on Xbox and Minecraft show that success could be had while also releasing on other platforms
Call of Duty stays multiplat – should you be upset?
