That’s how I handle any sports release, pretty much, putting a chunk of years between purchases. And while I FAR prefer 1 time purchase for ownership, sports games feel like one of the few kinds of games where a live-service approach would seem to make sense. Pay less yearly & build on top of the existing foundation with little improvements and roster updates. Surprised no one has at least tried it.
As it turns out, the last The Show I purchased was MLB 17, so a fresh PS5 entry would be worth it for me. Too bad The Orioles are set to suck for a while longer yet, as it is always a little less enticing to play along when you can only stomach keeping tabs on your team because they are simply too painful to watch lol.
