Sony Is Making It Harder To Buy Digital PS3 And Vita Content On October 27

That is not what’s going on here.

Visa and Mastercard have minimum security requirements to continue taking transactions. What’s happening is that Sony doesn’t want to pay large sums of money to get software engineers to write new security protocols for custom legacy hardware that only a handful of people in the word are really qualified to write to update the PS3. Then they would have to pay Visa/MC to verify and license them, and all for a number of monthly transactions you can probably count on your fingers.

So Sony is saying you can buy these products, but you have to use other verified means.

Of course the bandwagon I’m sure has already rolled and all the people who just want to bash Sony are going to make up whatever reasons they want. But this is what is actually happening.
