Honestly, the reasons why a lot of people seemingly like FC2 is probably the reason you don’t.
I think a lot of people miss things like taking care of your weapons. A more in-depth health system. Being able to help or betray your comrades at your own expense. Playing games with the different factions. Not to mention just something simple as the fire system getting highly gimped in other releases.
Future games, while they’re good, got really arcade-like; a power fantasy. The ones I played were fun though.
Unpopular opinion but I recommend 5 over 3. Especially if you haven’t been playing the series since. Unless you just want the island aesthetic of 3, I think 5 plays better all around.
